Does Bank of America’s 3% foreign transaction fee apply to non-US purchases processed directly in USD when using Customized Cash Rewards Credit Card?
Does Bank of America’s 3% foreign transaction fee apply to non-US purchases processed directly in USD when using Customized Cash Rewards Credit Card?
I am looking over the disclosures for the Bank of America® Customized Cash Rewards Credit Card regarding transaction fees incurred while abroad. The exact wording in the Details of Rate, Fee and Other Cost Information summary under Fees > Foreign Transaction reads:
Foreign Transaction: 3% of the U.S. dollar amount of each transaction made in a foreign currency.
However I read some reports that Bank of America does charge a 3% foreign transaction fee apply to non-US purchases processed directly in USD. For example, https://wallethub.com/answers/cc/bank-of-america-cash-rewards-foreign-transaction-fee-1000339-2140671535/ claims:
The Bank of America® Customized Cash Rewards credit card foreign transaction fee is 3%. This means Bank of America will adds a 3% surcharge anytime you use the Bank of America® Customized Cash Rewards credit card outside of the United States. The fee also applies to online purchases made through an internationally-based merchant.
which is echoed by some Reddit posts.
Therefore I'm confused.
Does Bank of America’s 3% foreign transaction fee apply to non-US purchases processed directly in USD when using the Customized Cash Rewards Credit Card?
