About home socket

About home socket I am in Myanmar. I have a 13A 250V combined socket and switch. The socket has L, N and Earth terminals. Inside there is a separate small switch/indicator mechanism, and a short wire connects the socket's Earth contact to part of this mechanism. What is the purpose of this connection? There is no protective earthing system in my house.
