Career Gap for 4.5 years after having 15 years of Database Development experience
I have a 4.5 years career gap after having an established career in Database development and production support for over 15 years (Australia). I started an e-commerce business in 2022 but after Geo-political issues my supplier shut shop so I had to close my business too in 2025. I have been re-skilling from 2025 till now including certs in Sec+, Splunk, ITIL, MS-900 and DP-300. Unfortunately my resume gets rejected and any of the managers looking at my resume says it looks strong and will contact me but never replies. I have a Github profile with projects including Data ingestion, DB maintenance and automated pipelines somehow everything fails to convince recruiters I'm worthy of hiring. How should I convince a recruiter. I am not looking for permanent opportunities just short-term contracts to break the unemployment cycle first.
